Not often do we have the opportunity to compare like parts. Due to starting my rebuild after having an accident that totaled my first truck, I've been able to question my past choice in upgrades. I had previously installed Alternative Offroad no-cut hood mounts. The install can be a bear and there are active threads on them. After install, I really did like them. They held up well off-roading.

Fast forward several months and I figured I'd take the slight risk on now trying the SDHQ no-cut mounts.
Based on side by side comparison, I'm predicting the SDHQ might go slightly smoother. I like the offset of the bolt holes near the 90 degree bend at the bottom of the bracket. Those that have had to install the Alternative Offroad mounts may have tried to take a dremel tool to grind the washer on the hood mounting bolt.

Posting pics of mounts for now. It will be several days before I have time to do the install. I'll update after.

Alternative Offroad on left.

One thing to note, also, is the thickness of the material we are using. 1/4".. we used 3/16" but had too much vibration off-road and made the switch

I have the SDHQ mounts and they are a quality product. They also came with a nice easy wire harness.

I got a set of SDHQ and the rear bolt hole would not line up and I got no help from SDHQ so I tossed them on my bench and bought a set of Alternative Offroad mounts. When I went to install them they lined up and went on just as they should.

I found the round vs longated hole design gave me the side to side movement I needed to line up the bolt.

Hopefully, I don't experience the same with the elongated holes. All good feedback. Also, the Alternative Offroad ones that I am showing in this thread is the 1/4 thickness. And, I agree that there was no vibration.

I hope to install my SDHQ ones here at some point. Hoping to avoid some of the headaches I have heard about. But when you have no help, its sometimes hard to avoid.

Bussy,
I have the Alternative Offroad mounts. I disconnected the strut on the side I was working on while supporting the hood with a broom handle. Other then losing one of the bolts into the gaping maw to the side of each hinge, it was a quick and easy install. I mounted my HID lights and they are rock steady! From the pictures you have posted it appears the SDHQ mounts are not nearly as stout.
Looking at the comparison I would stay with the Alternative Offroad's mounts.
Good luck!
Eddie
