So our tires are the BFG 121/118S and $320 from the rack. The 121/118R is the "regular" BFG AT and are $280 on the rack. For those of us not needing the special (read: overpriced and lower tread life) Raptor BFG's for sand traction i think the "R" is a better choice for snow/mud and year round pavement use. I have seen BFG AT's last 80k miles and at 30k miles look at this sad sight....no burnouts and properly rotated ...my tires are for all intents and purposes...bald and unsafe heading in to winter.

The tire wear factor is one thing that I was concerned about with these "special" BFG's for the Raptor. I plan on getting a 2012 here soon. Do you think it would be worth talking to the dealership about asking them to put on the "R" version instead of the "S" version.

The "R" is technically a little cheaper, so there might not even be an additional cost, or at least only a minimal cost for the labor.

i would say definitely rotate in your spare, get what you can and get out of the stock tires as soon as you have the $$

You bring up a good point.
Anyone ever think of a group buy of tires ?
Or get a special discount of sorts ?
Now this is hard since there are so many different tire choices and likes but an idea to throw out and see if it gains any momentum ?
