Me and my son decided to visit the farm. It is 50 acres of soybean fields. We pulled off the road and headed in two wheel drive all nannies on. The truck dig in and started to spin the rear tires, till traction control kicked in. Not much fun. So, put her in sport mode, offroad mode and locked the rear diff!

She took off with two rooster tails of dust and dirt. The faster I pushed her the smoother the ride was. Sliding her almost effortlessly around every corner with pleasant cloud of soybean husks and softball size clumps of dirt. Even with a longer wheel base than my 2011 scab. The truck easily and controllably rotates on its axis with minimal countersteering to maintain drift. The steering ratio is dialed in perfectly for such a large truck.

The only negative thing is lowest perch setting on negative offset caused rubbing at 25° across the fields. Middle or top perch is next thing on my to do list. And RPG stage III kit is in order, to control some of the leaf spring wrap and wheel hop.

I could not be happier with the 2012 Raptor and duratracs. I can not wait to open this bad boy up and really push it to the limits during Texas run!

Did digging in and spinning surprise you, given the terrain, or would have expected it with other tires as well?

Have you posted pictures anywhere of your truck with the Duratracs?

The fields have been turned over, and the soil is very fluffy and loamy. The stock tires on 2011 would start packing up in tread voids. The duratracs would toss the crap up (the sides) and out the back..

Is the 4HI noticeably different between the 2011 and 2012?

I forgot about that! Yes, the truck really pulls now without noticable torque steer from the torsen. It is almost no fun in 4Hi across the fields. Little or no sliding, the rear faithfully tracks the front end, making for quick tight turns in the dirt. Much funnier in 2wd sliding around.. Once it rains I am sure the torsen front end is going to make the Raptor almost humvee like..

Awesome Greg,

I was wondering how the new torsen would grip in. Audi runs them on there Quattro cars and the grip levels are nuts. Like you said, almost no fun if you want to be a hooligan.
