Death Valley - Barker Ranch

Great trip on Fri to the infamous Barker Ranch in Death Valley, Ca. Charlie Manson and "family" were captured here in 1969.

Ah I love that place! Did you just do Mengal Pass or did you go other places?

We did the full 75 mi loop by the Striped Butte and exited out on West Side, just a quick day trip, 14hr round trip from Vegas.

Not bad! Was the waterfall tough going into the ranch?

I missed it by about two months... Planned on going out to see in back in July 2009 and found out the place burned down in May

I still want to go out that way someday but it's not on the current list of places to go in the DV area.

Yea, it really sux. Still a really neat destination though.

Going down Mengel Pass is way easier than going up!


BTW, what camper shell is that? I need to get one soon, and yours looks clean.
