You should be careful with ecoboost exhaust systems. Ecoboost guys have always tended to keep their trucks as quiet as possible. You can mask the sound of a V6 at idle (especially in a parking garage) but as soon as you get on the gas and/or get on the road, it goes all Honda Accord / Fast and the Furious on you...

It just can't be fixed. Some people are tone deaf and can't hear it. Other people don't care about how it sounds. Everyone else sticks with the stock exhaust and does their mods upstream.

It is science, after all... (aka why not all 6 cylinder engines sound like absolute dog shit)...

Yeah my truck sounds nothing like either. You can mask your jealousy of the new Raptor but we all know if you could you'd dump that dumptruck of yours and get a new Raptor :)

The Ford GT is a v6 too.

My truck sounds pretty damn good. It's no Ferrari, but I do enjoy it and I promise you that more people ask me what exhaust is on this truck and I get the comment "your truck sounds amazing" waaay more than ever with the 2011.

So there it is :). Good to see you trolling back though, I do enjoy your sense of humor even though we disagree on some things.

Class rules in socialist Europe basically dictated the GT's engine configuration so (to me) that's irrelevant. And in all the track/Le Mans videos I watched it still sounded like a V6. Which is painful (to me).

And I'm not sure who you've been talking to but no one ever told me my truck sounds amazing. But I frequently get "WHAT THE **** IS IN THAT THING?" or "WHAT THE **** DID YOU DO TO THAT THING?" whenever I punch it near someone. After I let off and they catch back up to me, of course. :evillol:

Glad you're enjoying your truck. It looks great (I'm also glad you ditched the stickers). And those wheels are definitely sick. But, to me, they are still way too nice (and fragile) to put on a Raptor. Even though I'm a city dweller (due to work) who's only got 16k miles on his truck (in 4 years), I primarily use it to get (way) out of the city and out into the real world, which I'm very lucky to have nearby. Accordingly, I like to keep it set up to do that as capably as possible. To me, putting street wheels on a Raptor is akin to putting a 25x Nightforce on a shotgun. Wrong tool for the wrong job kind of thing.

But hey, different strokes for different folks, they say. And even though it's not likely to ever happen since we are on opposite coasts, I'd be the first to drag you out of the woods if you ever damaged one of them there fancy wheels. Speaking of which, I had my first set of aftermarket forged wheels that were made in the USA back in '99. They were 17s, though. So I guess some things never change. :ROFLJest:

Have always enjoyed your trolling, as well. Now can we get some real world testing results of those brakes??? Seriously, how much shorter is your 60-0?

I will do 60-0. Raxiom does it so I'll run it a few times. I just need a quiet night and safe road or a track.

BTW I highway drive mostly, often to Canada over the winters. I need a vehicle that can handle snow and ice. You'll never see me off-road unless I'm in my JK or it's on a trail. Admittedly I'm looking for some 19s that clear the brakes on 37s just incase.

I do love the new GT myself - but I haven't driven it, I also loved my 2006 GT. I'm not sure man, but I really think people driving trucks are looking at fuel mileage more and more these days. We shall see I guess.

That would be awesome and definitely be safe when you try it. I'm interested in hearing how much the brakes really did for you. I held off on a big brake kit for my truck due to mixed reviews on real world performance. It could be that they are still worth doing just for the feel but I personally wasn't ready to drop $10k on brakes that were going to stop 10 feet shorter.

You should be running Duratracs if snow/ice are your biggest concerns. Or maybe some Nokians (look them up).

More people care about fuel mileage than those who don't (like me, who simply doesn't drive his truck enough to care) but my issue with turbo motors is that, all else equal, in real world driving, they are typically worse than larger displacement, N/A engines when it comes to fuel economy. Ecoboosts in particular have long been known for this. They tend to make more peak hp/tq to get to the same useable level of power (people often talk about peak tq RPM as if it's some big important thing but when your boost is electronically controlled this is an easy thing to move around (marketing!!!) - you're better off looking at the power band starting from idle). And they also tend to be tuned richer to keep the pistons cool. No idea if the new direct/port injection makes a difference. Bottom line, though, I think any efficiency improvement for the Gen 2 over the Gen 1 came primarily from the lighter weight and to a lesser degree the 10 speed.

You also can't tell me that you really care about the fuel economy difference of, what, 2-3 mpg, when you're out there running sub 5 second 0-60 times in a Gen 2 with HRE wheels. Come on now. How much of a difference is there really going to be in fuel costs over the length of time you'll own your truck?

*edit* Pics of the Ford GT! That is a dream car for me. But used prices for them are INSANE.

I had Duratrac on my 2011. Problem is they're slightly larger than the BF, although the same size, the tread is big. As a result they rub at full crank. The Bfs are so close to rubbing at full crank but they don't.

I also don't care about fuel mileage that much but it's nice to see 15+ rather than 11.
