This is just my opinion, and mine alone.
You know what they say about opinion! " They are like elbows, everybody got a couple of them "
I drooled for a long time about a Raptor.
Back in Aug I decided to quit slobbering all over myself and get me one.
I choose a Gen 1 because.... :mwah1:
1) I love the body style of the Gen 1.
2) The Jury is still out on the V6 eco boost.
3) A V8 engine in a pickem up Truck is as American as Apple Pie
I found me a 2014 Roush SE, Tuxedo Black Screw, fully loaded included Method beadlocks and a Rouge Rebel front bumper with the light bar.
The truck had only 52K and is in immaculate condition. ( need to figure out how to post pics)
Do I miss a Gen 2?!!!!
Put a V8 and a Screw, doesn't matter if it's a Roush or a Whipple in the Gen 2, then I'll miss it.
Just my $0.02 worth.

BuckHornHunter,
Welcome!
If you're interested in Gen 1, try for a 13 or 14. The earlier models had problems with driveshaft "clunk", and weakened rear frame rails at the rear bump stops. By the 2013 model year both problems had been addressed.
The Gen 2 Raptor has better suspension, lighter weight, 10 speed transmission, more up fitter switches, aluminum cab, more horsepower, more torque, better mileage, improved and much stronger high strength steel frame, upgraded options/electronics, etc. It blows the Gen 1 out of the water in a side by side test of acceleration. It out tows the Gen 1. In every area it equals or improves upon the Gen 1....
I have a Gen 1, and love it. However the Gen 2 is a better truck.
Best of luck in your search. You'll love your choice what ever it is...
Eddie
