In my gen 1 raptor after pulling out the locker selector I received a message saying "check locking differential." Since the message came up immediately it had to be electrical so I checked all the fuses and wires and eventually moved on to taking the diff cover off.

I found the two blue wires that are inside the diff completely disconnected and the plate they should be attached to free to spin w the tab bent.

All the dealerships tell me the only way to fix it is to replace the whole differential costing which alone is $2300. Local scrap and part yards also said they can only get the whole mechanism for about $2000.

Anyone have any thoughts on how I can fix it without replacing the whole thing?

I wonder if that part isn't suppose to spin free anyway? Hope some mechanic chimes in, interesting.

I don't think it is supposed to spin as the two wires are connected to the plate. The plate also has a tab on it that is bent out which I'm assuming is meant to hold the plate in place
