OIL LIFE
This displays the remaining oil life.
An oil change is required whenever indicated by the message center and
according to the recommended maintenance schedule. USE ONLY
RECOMMENDED ENGINE OILS.
To reset the oil monitoring system to 100% after each oil change
(approximately 7,500 miles [12,000 km] or 12 months) perform the
following:
1. Press and release the SELECT/RESET stem to display “OIL LIFE
XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW”.
2. Press and hold the SELECT/RESET stem for two seconds and release
to reset the oil life to 100%.
Note: To change oil life 100% miles value from 7,500 miles (12,000 km)
or 12 months to another value, proceed to Step 3.
3. Once “OIL LIFE SET TO XXX%” is displayed, release and press the
SELECT/RESET stem to change the Oil Life Start Value. Each release
and press will reduce the value by 10%.

Hope that helps.

Follow the instructions - but do check the dipstick periodically. My second oil change at the dealer something went wrong... I checked the dipstick after 3000 miles and the oil was black, and I had pinging noises in the engine. I changed it in my driveway that day, and found metal filings in the drain bucket.
I'm running 7,000 km (4500miles?) on this run now, and will probably dump it before I make the 1000 mile trip home.

You should have saved this waste oil . If you still have it I would take it to your dealer .
I had this happen with a Brand New Truck years ago. Will not go into the outcome , but I had saved what I found.
It is not abnormal to see some glimer in bright light in waste oil . But you said metal filings , were these big enough to feel ?

My oil change is set for 4000 miles, not 7,500 miles (12,000 km). How is this changed ?

If you actually try it, you will see the issue. Yes indeed

" 3. Once “OIL LIFE SET TO XXX%” is displayed, release and press the
SELECT/RESET stem to change the Oil Life Start Value. Each release
and press will reduce the value by 10%. "

However there is no option to set the mileage from 4000 miles to the higher mileage of 7500 that I can see. See on my truck the way it is set up, 100% = 4000 miles. I want to set it to 100%= 7500 miles.
