Differential gear changes

Im not sure where to post this. I have a 2012 Raptor the truck has 410 gears. Can the gears be changed to a taller gear. My goal would be to get the RPMs down to 1600/1700 while cruising 75 mile an hour. Is this possible?

Its possible but why? I understand the idea but 16-1700 at 75.. thats a small gear.. Just guessing its like 20-25% smaller.. So you would want like a 3.55

You'd constantly be shifting in and out of 5th and 6th hunting for more power. Should've bought something else for mileage concerns, if that's what you're trying to accomplish. If there's another reason, then I'd be interested in your theory.

If you were to run say, 3:55 gears Your RPMs would drop for better crusing at Highway speeds. (IE a litter better MPG while crusing @ 55-68 mph) BUT you will suffer at take off, with your 35" tires. Your Raptor will be slugish, and the $$ cost to change your front & rear gears, would most likely out weigh the small savings of $$ with a few less RPM's.
You would have to suffer at red lights and every start from a dead stop, and drive 100K miles to break even in the $$ column.
Just my .02 ??

I've heard of few eco-boost guys wanting to do gear changes hotline stated modification that will void your warranty. Weather or not its an empty threat or not.

I'd be curious if you'd even get better gas mileage with a 3:55 gear.
I'd guess the vast majority of your road time would have to be highway to see an improvement.
You have over 6000lbs to get moving. I'd guess you'd be spending too much time out of the optimal power band to see the mileage benefit, not to mention the loss of performance (fun factor).

I was aware of the mileage that the truck gets. I was cruising home tonight And realized the drop in economy was due to the 2500 RPM running at 85 for long periods of time. When I run 74 in a 65 I'm at 2100 to 2200 if the RPMs were lower my mileage would be better. Just because I ask about gears and mpg doesn't mean I should have bought another truck. Is there another truck that looks as bad ass and handles so superbly and is as comfortable as the raptor that gets better MPGs. If there is then I must of missed it when I was looking for a new truck.

I know. I drive back and forth from Chicago to Wisconsin on a regular basis. I have been doing the drive for years I94 which is what I drive on you can haul ass with ease. The truck likes to go fast and doesn't really seem like your going fast. I was just seeing if the change was possible. I plan on doing a supercharger and didn't think I would suffer from a stop if the truck had different gears. Most of the driving is highway. I'm extreamly happy with it. I was just exploring the idea. Thanks
