I just had 37's and 4.88 gears installed. I was wondering if any of you with 4.88's have noticed an increase in drivetrain noise after installing these gears. I didn't feel comfortable installing them
Myself. I usually do all my own work but now I don't know if their is something wrong or I'm just being paranoid.

Are you sure its not the tire noise or did u run them before the gear swap? When I had 4.56 done I noticed a little more noise but nothing substantial

I still have stock gears in my Raptor but I have swapped gears out in the past and generally (at least in my experience) they have been a little louder than stock. Could be the cut of the teeth, or could be that the tech didn't get the backlash exactly right. Doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem but I'm not an expert here. Maybe just take it back and ask them to look at it. This way you have it on record.

I got the gears from West Coast Differentials believe they're Sierra. They had the best prices after shopping around. East Coast Gear Supply in Raleigh NC installed them.

That's not too far from me, I may use them. How long did they have your truck and how much did they beat your wallet up?

Honestly I don't remember the price. That was awhile back. Only took them an afternoon. I just waited while they did the work. I do remember thinking it was probably a reasonable price for the work and how quickly they knocked it out.

My 4.88 make some noise around 45mph at cruise. No noise accelerating or decelerating. Only at cruise maintaining speed. I switched to redline gear oil , and it dropped noise a little bit. I think its because the harmonics changed ,plus I have a bigger driveshaft and AFE diff cover, its almost a ringing noise. I'm not worried about it, i found no metal when i changed oil a few months ago. They have been installed almost 2 years now. It would of broke by now if something was wrong.

I just drove up there to get parts for my rearend.

For everyone's info my rear end was massively installed incorrectly and damaged by the installer. e213fec62a18ef781fe504c3c3811e38.jpg48bee0138bdad51e325d9320359076d0.jpgcf6c1427764b04786b0ffd24ce649be5.jpg
