I dont understand this. So he'd rather make $0 than a smaller profit, which was going to be more than $0. I don't get it.

Yeah, I don't either but he would not, said Flood was selling it lower than what it cost him and came to $150 more than Flood and I held fast and told $100 over, take it or leave it. He left it. I do not believe Flood was selling it for less than what it cost him but then again I never believe a single word that anyone at a dealership tells me when it comes to any kind of financial part of the deal.

You know you don't have to wait that 4 months they tell you. I redid mine on my previous financing with Ford before I even made a single payment. And yes the dealer does get a kick back and that is why they tell you that. I told the finance guy what I was doing and could care less, nothing he can say. Is this a BRAND NEW raptor or a used one?
It's a brand new 2014. Had 50 miles on it when I test drove it. My fear after reading the last couple posts is that I'll need to work with the dealer to cancel my ESP. Can I work directly with Ford? Or am I legally allowed to cancel it and they are required to abide with the request? Additionally, how long do I have to cancel it?

Just read the cancelation section. Within 30 days and in writing, I can cancel the contract, minus a $75 fee. So my next question, can I physically hand them the letter and wait on-site for the check? Or do I send the letter via certified mail and wait? I am going to refinance my loan in early December. I suppose if I do get a check made out to myself and the bank after the refi, they, the bank, can endorse it and I can just deposit it.

You really need to look over you paperwork on the ESP as practically every state might be different, the main section on mine starts at section 12:

12. CANCELLATION AND REFUND
(A) YOUR RIGHT TO CANCEL THIS AGREEMENT AND RECEIVE A REFUND: (1) If the Selling Dealer receives a written cancellation request, including a copy of
Your Application, proof of payment and statement of the odometer reading, on or before the 30th day from the Signature Date and no claims have been filed under this Agreement, the Selling Dealer will cancel this Agreement and refund the purchase price You paid for this Agreement, minus a $75 processing fee for each plan cancelled.
(2) If the Selling Dealer receives a written cancellation request, including a copy of Your Application, proof of payment and statement of the odometer reading, after the 30th day or a claim has been filed at any time during the term of this Agreement from the Signature Date the Selling Dealer will divide the purchase price You paid for the Agreement by the number of miles or months of coverage provided by this Agreement, whichever is greater. The Selling Dealer will multiply this dollar amount by the remaining unused miles or months, whichever is less, and refund this amount (``Pro Rata basis'') to You or Your lender, minus a $75 processing fee for each plan cancelled.

I didn't get mine until almost 10,500 miles. I got PremiumCARE for 84 months / 125k miles with $200 ded and first day rental for $1705 (before the price increase).

I know what you mean about not wanting to go back to the dealership but man up and stand your ground and get it done. I cancelled an ESP on my wife's car and yeah they gave me shit and tried to not get me to cancel with their tactics but I got through it and got it cancelled. Ford's ESP Sales information number is 877-794-6434, they might be able to answer some of your questions.

You are going to wait for the check, 8-12 weeks because they are in no hurry. When we did my wife's car for the ESP it was financed in the deal. They would not give me a check even if I waited for it in the mail. The refund goes directly to the bank that had the loan and reduced my principal but not my payments. On hers I did not get an ESP but if I did after that, then it would be out of my pocket. Yours might be different but since the finance company fronted the money for the ESP, they will want it back so that is why it typically will always just go back to them but again your situation might be different. But think about it, If I cancel my ESP and only I get the check and considering my wife's loan was 2.19%, that would be like getting a cash signature loan for the cheap. That ain't gonna happen.

Thanks. I understand that I won't get the money back personally. I thought I read that the dealer would cut a check made out to me and the bank. I just read section 12 A 5 again and it states the check will be made out to the lienholder.
I will go into the dealer with my letter of cancellation. I just don't trust them. When you canceled your wife's ESP, did you deal with finance or the GM? Should I ask for a letter in return that they acknowledge receiving my cancelation? (My level of trust with this dealer is non-existent.)

I dealt with the finance person. At that dealership, they had more than one so the one I dealt with wasn't the one that I initially did the deal with. I would get copies of everything and might at well take pictures of it too, incase they are real ********.

I have to ask though, what kind of deal did you get on your raptor? From the sounds of this dealership it doesn't sound like it might not of been that great....

That's a story within itself. I had a couple of dealers in San Diego at $100 under MSRP and one in Riverside at $300 under. Neither dealers had all the options I wanted, and the RR SE Raptor that was local did. Plus it had a base price $300 lower than everyone else. At the time, I didn't see the build dates. Later I found out that it was an earlier build from May, before the price increase.

Not wanting to show all my cards, I asked for $1k under MSRP hoping to get a negotiation close to or slightly above $300 under MSRP. There was a $10k ADM on the truck. The sales dude filled in their mysterious four quadrant sheet of paper with what I wanted to pay and took it to the sales manager. The sales manager came back a few minutes later with red marker ALL over it. His price was $5k above MSRP. I was furious since I was upfront that I would not pay a dime over MSRP and wanted it lower. I cut him off and literally walked out, stating I had another dealer at $300 under. I was on the phone with that dealer before leaving the lot. The sales manager caught me as I was driving off and said he would do $1500 over. No thanks and we left.

Half way to the other dealer, the GM called asking how to finish the sale. Long story short, I got the truck at MSRP and two tanks of gas. A rough value of $200 here in California. And it has all the options I wanted with a base price lower than the others.

I just kick myself for believing their "employee discount" on the ESP. I paid $2755 for 6 years/100k miles premium care with a $100 deductible. I can get an 8 year, 125k, $0 deductible for less than that. Hence why I want to cancel.

Thanks for all your tips and advice.

It still amazes me that dealers still play the four square game and then the attempts from someone else with a different offer. Good luck with the cancel, you will feel so much better when you get that over with.

There are about 8 big dealerships/dealership groups in the ESP game currently for Ford. Flood is one of the biggest, Warrick Ford in Covington, IN does a lot as well (Mike is a good guy), Ziggler does a lot as well. These guys are going after the volume bump they get from selling so many so sometimes to get a deal done they will sell back of cost. Anyone who tries to sell for full retail might as well just stop, if we make $300-400 on ours we are pretty darn happy. The biggest boost that local dealers have is that the customer is more likely to come get their regular maintenance done there as well as any other ESP repairs. Eventually down the road if they keep the customer happy maybe a chance at their retail business. If anyone has questions on pricing or wants a price let me know and I will see what we can do!

I can say a few choice words about the dealer that tried to screw me over. ($450 over ESP MSRP.) Good news though, the Ford ESP site shows that I don't have an extended warranty. Now shopping for the best price. So far it's Flood Ford @ $1475 for 7 years / 100k miles.
