GEN 1 What is this steel plate/block flopping around on top of the rear / left side of my f

I was checking for loose harness connections under the bed of my truck (I have intermittent rear cam outages and a new 'trailer wiring fault' without a trailer..) and found this weird steel block loosely mounted to the top of my left frame rail, just below the bed (no bolts going up), just above the left rear spring hanger.

Does anyone have any idea what the hell this thing is?!
