In most cases, the stock spare is an identical wheel and tire (depending on model yr). I'm guessing that it's worth about $500?

Rim: $300-500
New spare carrier assembly: $210
New tire: $300
Labour: 1 hour at ~$100

So I'm looking at the best part of $1000 just to sort this out.

I'm guessing they cut the cable. Hence why you need a new carrier assembly. Will insurance cover any of this? Can you get used parts to lower your cost.

My $500 estimate was for just the wheel and tire.

Yeah cable was cut, insurance is coving all minus deductible ($250) need to check with the adjuster that this won't affect my premium. If the estimate comes back reasonably priced I may pay out of pocket.

So I was out walking the dog and saw the neighbor leave in his truck (platinum f-150) and also noticed that it looks like his spare was missing too. I'll swing by later and ask if he knows. Looks like they may have had a productive night.
