Small vent next to steering wheel?

Does anyone know what the small vent on the right hand side of the steering wheel is? It's just to the left of the trailer brake. Is it ok to cover it up?

I believe there is a temperature sensor on the other side letting the truck know the temp inside the cab. If you pull that trim piece off there's a small little circuit board there.

I always figured that's where the speaker is for the blinker and the door open/off road mode/etc. chime but I wasn't sure.

Yup. It is for the internal cab temperature.
