Hey @jetrocker -

I know the damage is already done, and Ford is wanting a bank-roll to fix. Here is a product that you may want to look into:

Stop Rust with POR-15® - We Know What Permanent Means!

It looks like from your pics that the majority of the damage is below the running boards. I know that it won't be back to perfect, but maybe coating it with the POR and then painting it or covering it with a bed protection-type product would look good. The main thing is to stop the rust at this point until you figure out your next move.

Good luck and keep us posted!!!

Interesting stuff, 2014RR. I'm thinking maybe I'll take a shot at removing the running boards (could be a pain just doing that with the rusty bolts!), and take a wire brush wheel on the drill to the rust I see, then use the POR-15 to treat everything, and then perhaps top coat with Rustoleum black paint or bed liner as you said. My fear at this point in doing that is that I might uncover perforations that are unknown to me right now. But if it's there, it's there I guess. It's only going to get worse if I put it off. Thanks for all the input, guys. Mark

Yeah, that's a pretty bad start at rust for a new truck! Shame on Ford for not looking into the repairs since it's so recently out of warranty - It's not like that just started yesterday...:893Chainsaw-Smilie-

POR 15 is a really great product and they sell a black color so you won't have to paint afterward. They also have a clear in case you want to use it in an area where you don't want additional paint. Good luck with the work. I think if you take your time you'll be able to make some good headway on this...

Had rust on the lower cab, Ford said corrosion needed to go through, as in a hole, to be eligible for warranty lol. Buddy at a collision shop fixed it

How long ago did you have it fixed and was it inside out rust or surface rust? Has it come back at all? What was your cost to have this done? Thx, Mark
