About to replace rotors and pads with the r1 concepts, just wanted to hear from people that have done it if there was really that much of a noticeable difference I tow couple different boats and was wondering if I would really notice the difference versus just new pads on the stock rotors

Thanks

I replaced mine with R1 Concepts drilled and slotted rotors and pads. The first thing I noticed is no more squeaking while backing up. Not sure how much difference they make in a one time " oh shit" moment but brake fade is reduced under multiple stop events. I'm a two footed driver and noticed that right off at Raptor runs. I would think braking while towing would be improved as well. I would install them again on any vehicle, hope this helps.

The R1 rotors sure just look like somebody selling a gimmick. They are coated, slotted and drilled? Drilled is BAD, cast in holes are better but will still crack. I am leaning more towards the stoptech slotted and cryo treated rotors. Slotting works to move gasses off the rotor, cryo treating stabilizes the rotor and my past experience on the racetrack says this is a much better option than foo foo rotors with decorations and not much engineering advantage that I have been able to find. R1 pads get panned pretty bad, I do not see that I personally am going to be able to spend my brake money with them. I do not want to decorate my truck, I want it to stop!

The R1 stuff seems pretty popular but looks pretty low rent to me. I am still searching for alternatives. Like I said, stoptech and EBC yellow pads are high on the list now. My search for real braking improvements on this truck without spending thousands continues. I have serious doubts that R1 can deliver what I seek. Good Luck

We have been selling R1 Concept Rotors to Raptor owners for years. We have been selling the Premier Series (G3500) but even though we can still get these, they are made in smaller quantities now. We have been promoting the new Carbon Geomet Series. There will always be the conversation about drilled rotors. There are pros and cons to the best choice based on your driving. We have found the Drilled/Slotted rotors offer the best performance for the average Raptor owner.

https://www.r1concepts.com/blog/how-to-choose-the-right-brake-rotor-pattern/

The Geomets come with a lifetime warranty if any cracking would occur. To date that I know of, we have not seen that happen with any Raptor owner. I would agree on the R1 Concept pads. We tried them out and were not impressed. That is why we pair these rotors with Posi-Quiet ceramic pads. It does cost more than what R1 provides but we feel the cost is worth it for our customers.

We can customize orders, if someone wants just slotted or blanks, we can do that too and it will save you some money.

Are there more expensive brakes out there, sure but we have found the combination we have put together has worked very well for our trucks at a reasonable price for performance and the ability to stop better than what OEM provides.

Over the years, I have literally sold over 500 R1 brake packages for Raptor owners specifically. Not a single customer has ever had their drillwd and slotted rotors crack. They are also waraantied for life against cracking. EBC and Stoptech don'rlt offer a lifetime warranty for anything.

Just to site the experience of a single customer. One of our customers named Matt installed his four years ago and then took his truck through every Baja 1000, Baja 500, TRR and countless werkend holiday trips with his camper and others toys, every year. He just replaced the pads back in the spring and didn't have to do anything for the old rotors to accept the new pads.

I can't say the same for my customers who have insisted on EBC, Hawk, Stoptech, powerstop or any others for that matter and we can actually sell just about all the available brands.

No "gimmick" about it.

Not only will you notice a difference, the parts will last much longer.

So I see the claim of better braking in your posts. Has anyone ever lined them up against OEM or anything else and tested them?

Spare me warranty talk, 99% of the stuff I have purchased over the years with a great warranty has been a disappointment. Maybe your products are the exception but I do not buy based on warranty anymore. I am much more apt to spend money for actual performance. My experience with brakes is that, brakes that last a long time are sacrificing braking performance, hence my skeptical attitude towards R1. That and a scathing review from a truck owner sorely disappointed in the performance of his R1 products.

I am also a bit jaded, the vehicle that preceeded this Raptor was a Porsche Cayenne turbo. I know I can't have that without spending a bunch more. I would like a substantial improvement though. The truck I just bought has bad pulsing probably from pad transfer. I can't drive it hard until I fix this but I would prefer the best I can get for this truck, something with some bite.

A single scathing review from a truck owner? 1st. If you are on FB, ask about brakes in the FordRaptorForum group and see what recommendations you receive from those that have tested them. 2nd. Know that R1 has different levels of rotors, some cheaper and some more expensive, but a single bad review, which I have never seen, is hardly enough to call them a gimmick.

There are a LOT more satisfied Raptor owner R1/Freedom customers in the Raptor community than any other brand of aftermarket brakes out there.

I understand that, I am just asking questions, trying to determine what to spend my money on.

IMHO, drilled, slotted and coated are mostly useless gimmicks used to market rotors. I also know that this works very well on the inexperienced. It makes me skeptical. I have lots of years of experience racing cars, buying lots of brakes. I just expected there to be more choices for this sport truck, and that maybe it had something better than a standard f150 system to start with.

Guess I will give the most popular a try. Talk to you guys next week. You will know it is me because I wont want the drilled version LOL.

Perhaps these will work better? They are drilled though and have some decorations.
