Question about dash display

In fuel economy on the right side of the screen it has the 6-1 gear you are in but for some reason mine comes and goes sometimes its on the screen and sometimes its not Why would this change? I am in automatic mode not manual

This display can be altered by the up/down switch on the gear selector. You my be accidentally pressing that button which could turn off the gear display on the dash.
