Protect Your Tailgate

Recently, I installed a McGard 76029 Tailgate Lock. It’s not a perfect solution, but it will slow the bastards down. I Paid 20 bucks from Central 4 Wheel Drive.

I would like to get mine so it would lock with the rest of the doors.

Is this a big issue? I've never known anyone who has had their tailgate stolen. I've seen cat converter theft, spare tire theft, and emblem theft...but tailgates? There's a market for that? It's quite an age that we live in.

Looks like that lock will definitely slow them down, maybe to the point of giving up. If it ends up taking twice as long as it should, thieves will usually move to an easier target. At least if you're in a populated area.

Tailgates are a very easy target. It will cost over $1k to replace.

I just keep my tailgate locked most of the time.

Yep, keeping it locked all the time here too...step + camera + gate + wiring harness can't be a cheap replacement.

Thats for sure, when I bought mine, the dealer recommended I keep it locked just becuase it has all that stuff in it.

Warrior, what do you mean the 11 has the lock. Like the normal key lock or something extra? like in this thread? My screw is waiting shipment, and curious about this so i can be prepared.
