Went from South Jersey to Virginia Beach for my son's soccer tournament.

Trip down in the pouring rain.

Driving back from Vegas I reached 65mph and set it on cruise control. Got more then 15mpg. Since then I've been getting 11.6. Ouch. Not really a lead foot either.

with my bmw GS I get 55 mpg at 55 mph, and it increases the slower I go. 65 mpg at 45 mph, 70 mpg at 35 mph. anybody seen if you can get super high mpg by taking the dirt back roads real slow?

I think that might make the ECU & PCM barf something awful and shit the bed.
But would it help / fit

They say you can use it in a 4x4 when switching the transfer case to 4x2
And driving 80mph at lower revs would help boost MPG
Without spending thousands for a 7 or 8 speed gearbox that would fit within the space of the current 6 speed

Offcourse that would requere a seriues tune as well to allow an 8 speed to work

Maybe we will be able to swap in the 10speed they are developing ::

Ford F150 Will Soon Have a 10 Speed Automatic Transmission - Torque News

Throwing it behind the T-case would 'work' however if you engage it the PCM will go haywire as the ratio just changed and it knew nothing about it. It would probably cause some serious damage in the trans as the PCM tries to fix ratio.

Tough the transfer is fixed gears

Or you meen the gearbox speed sensor versus wheel speed senor would make the PCM go bonkers ?
