Had to drive 60-65 mph on last trip due to heavy rain. MPG went from 12.9 to 14.1 and I didn't reset gauge. Had to be getting 16 mpg to avg that much. Not bad for a 3 ton pig with 35's and s big block!

Do you have a tuner on your truck?

Stock form 140 mile trip, mostly through small towns and some highway 17.1 I did not use the cruise. Same trip using the cruise 14.0 ave. I drive the same 140 mile trip every week. 6.2L always on premium fuel with out corn.

So using the cruise control actually hurts the mpg on Raptors during long distance trips?

I most certainly would use cruise control when we go on a road trip.

Been working on it for the last 1,000 or so miles. I win?

Side question here. In the pic above, you notice the gears 1-6 along the right edge of the Trip A screen. If I recall correctly, I had never seen that there until last week I got the truck back from the warranty repair service.

Is that a setting I can turn off? Not a big deal, just wondering.

Cruise control is convenient, but it really only helps MPG on flat roads or constant grades. In those cases, the EEC can keep a more steady light throttle than a human can. In all other scenarios, cruise control costs you fuel compared to what you can do with your foot.

Example- cresting a hill, cruise control will keep that throttle down to maintain your set speed all the way to the top. A human (trying to maximize MPGs) would reduce the throttle as they near the crest, dropping a few MPH, then pick that speed back up on the downhill side.

Anyone who has half a brain and is trying can easily beat the mileage that cruise control would return- unless it's the long constant grade scenario, in that case I'm thinking cruise could slightly edge out a human.
