Guys don't use a regular nut with red loctite? I didn't even bother with the nutsert. That thing is a shit design to begin with.

I you have the step you can't really get to the back to put a nut on.

You do. You have to remove the plastic panel and tape a stick to an open end wrench. Lightly tape the nut to the wrench and slide it into place inside the tailgate. Insert threaded bolt and tighten. I'll paste the thread here when I find it.
