It might not be a lot but it adds up, an extra 25 to 30 miles per tank still goes a long way. Mind you I'm NOT driving like a Grandma so I could get better. I do a lot of stop light to stop light and idling driving.
I get 15 mph in town with nothing more than an K&N dropo-in filter. Please save yourself some disappointment and a lot of money, and view the advertising hype you read with a very jaundiced eye. There are any number of manufacturers that will sell you cold air intake systems that suck hot air from the engine compartment, intake spacers that do absolutely nothing, etc. Many will tout dyno runs that are all done with the hood open. All intake systems are cold air systems with the hood open, but most of us don't drive that way. And a dyno run tells you absolutely nothing about fuel economy.

It's a big honking performance oriented engine in a 6000 pound vehicle that's as aerodynamic as a brick. Realistically your best economy device is a well controlled right foot.

It truly is. If I drive nice and normal I can average 17 city/hwy but if I drive crazy I can average 14 or lower

Intake, exhaust and 5Star tune on my six two. I started getting better gas mileage when I put the bed cover on. Since I have had the truck I have not seen anything over 14.3. I am averaging 12.7 with cover, 11-11.5 without. Going in for my first oil change next week, so hopefully that will help some. Damn, can't believe i almost have 5k on it already.

+1 on that.
I'm at 5500 ft elevation though. I have to think elevation accounts for some mileage.

thanks again
Lock the doors shut and walk. That will give you the best fuel economy with very little out of pocket expenses.
