Down hill decent mode keeps going on and off.

That's what that is? Looks like a duck to me on the button. I've always called it duck mode.

I occasionally get a Downhill Mode fault upon startup. Occasionally - maybe once a year. I think it's a software glitch.

Is there a sensor on tranny? Maybe some wires or plug-in I could check?

It is designed to go off and on. Especially if you touch the throttle. I never use mine anymore. Don't go slow enough for it work......

Jill Descent mode will result in Jill Descending most times, but every so often, you'll find she is not in the mood, this is normal. Also if you overuse Jill, she will stop descending.
