Black plastic valve covers ??

Just noticed on my new truck that the valve covers are black plastic. On my dads 2012 (early build) it has aluminum.

My build date was 2/13

What do you guys have??

Plastic on my '12 as well, build date 2/1/12.

I believe mine are aluminium, 2011. I ordered mine on 8-4-11 and pickled up 9-28-11

do you guys have pics of the aluminum ones? Ford has been using plastic valve covers for well over a decade now, if not longer.

yup, plastic on mine. Built end of Jan 2012. I was surprised too.

Plastic on my 2012, not sure on build date, noticed it as soon as I opened the hood as my 2010 6.2 did not.

confirmation they're aluminum and not just plastic molded from silver rather than black?

Old ones were magnesium.
