6.2 gallon per hour idle usage?

Anyone have any idle what the gallon per hour idle rate is on the 6.2l?

I am waiting for class to start idling with AC on.. Right now I am averaging 0.1 gallon for every 10 minutes.. So aproximately 0.6 gallons per hour with AC on..

After 20 minutes idling with AC on..

So if this is accurate.. You could idle you SCrew for 60 hours... (36 gallons/0.6 gallons per hour = 60 hours)

Little dip... After 29 minutes 44 seconds 0.3 gallons used...

That is about right. I've done enough road trips where I crawl into the back seat for some sleep and leave the truck running.

Gas engines, yes. Diesel, no. Once in a while... it probably won't do much except empty your wallet

That's what i thought, i thought it had something to do with carbon build-up and what not, and like you said, here and there for a little bit of time wont hurt.

That's not true for diesels anymore. Now with all the filters and emissions crap on there, they're not made to idle anymore.
