As a follow-up, the initial fix from the video I posted above did not work consistently. The truck would shift into 4x4 more than half of the time, but it still failed on a regular basis.
I replaced the transfer case motor last weekend and it has been working flawlessly ever since. The loud clicking underneath my truck is gone.

I had to move one wire from a sensor in the transfer case to the new connector on the Dorman, but it was a pretty simple installation. The following video is not our exact truck, but he shows how to change the wire and the plastic lock clip, which is what I had to do on mine.
