Hi All,

We've all seen the very cool light strips that need to be hard wired in and others have gone to a local sign shop and gotten some scrap pieces of vinyl...

I'm sorry I don't have pictures... no point, I'm sure you've got an adequate imagination...

But, here's what I just did... duct tape!

No Joke! I've got a roll of red, white, blue, and traditional duct tape in my garage.

I took the red one, cut a piece about 5" long, put it on a table sticky side up... then cut another piece, and put the two sticky sides together. Then I cut it to the right length to cover up the "SVT" letters.

The duct tape is the perfect width as is, just trim the length. Once you pull the plastic side vent cover off... simply lay this colored piece of duct tape over the SVT from the back, it folds perfectly over the letters between the two clips.

I know this sounds kind of like a redneck idea... and I'll admit it is, but it looks great! And the little fibers in the duct tape give the letters a little texture and make them jump out a little more to catch the eye.

And FWIW, at a casual glance, and even then if you took a closer look... most people wouldn't even know its duct tape!

Oh, I say its the perfect width because there are no wrinkles or folds in the duct tape and it is neatly held flat in place by the vent itself against the painted body work and the clips keep it from sliding up or down due to vibrations...

This red tape idea will not let it slide around or out.... and because I stuck the two sticky sides together, its passively held in place... so I can remove it or change to the blue or whatever color I want.

BTW, the craft store "Michaels" carries "duct tape" in every color of the rainbow! That's where I got the Red tape from... it was for a kid's 4th of July project.

I'll post a picture as soon as my wife gets back... she took the truck to get wheat straw to stuff a scarecrow for seasonal decorations.

Better yet, I've used the red reflective tape on rear fender vents of Mustangs before. Not only is it red, when light hits it, it reflects red.

It's a good idea. But why not just stick the tape to the body metal under the vent? That would prevent an accumulation of grime and the formation of rust under the tape.
