Greetings,

I am new to the forum but ordered a new Raptor from the Dealer in Late April.

Unfortunately I just heard that there is an indefinite delay in building pending certain parts from Japan (namely navigation).

Apparently if you want navigation Ford does not have the parts and does not know when they will get the parts. As of yet there is no plans to generate a VIN# for my build.

I am fearful that the delay could push the build into the 2012 model year which I have heard will not carry the orange color (also something I really want).

I understand you can order it without the navigation but to be honest I think it looks really cool and don't want to sink $50,000+ into a truck that is suboptimal.

I can possibly get a truck from elsewhere in the nation already built but most have the stickers on the truck which I do not want and add a substantial amount to the cost for something I would rip/tear off anyway ($1400+).

Really bummed.

A few guys have put their own Navs in... If you go to the forum and read the "Is Nav Necessary" thread you can find other ways. You can get aftermarket stuff that works just as well, if not better than the factory nav and sometimes cheaper.

You can put an Ipad in there, you can also put aftermarket and make it do all the same functions and more... It might not be too much of a problem

Welcome, sorry about the delay woes, if you must have orange and nav, then I'd say it's probably worth it to take the hit on the decals

The problem i see is that the whole nav console is different then the non nav. You would have to order the whole nav dash to replace ur non nav.
I have thought about putting a ipad in. It would be prettty sweet.

Hope Sony will come through

My hope is that Sony will start production of this navigation system again.

Otherwise does anyone know when the 2012 Raptors start production?

If soon...I guess a will have to pay extra for the exterior graphics package.

2012 order banks opens very near 8/15/11 with FIRST BUILD 10/24/11.
Dealer delivery first - second week of Nov/11 (current time frame from Ford)

Doubtful

I am optimistic but doubtful Ford is going to come through on this one. 2.5 months doesn't seem like enough time to complete this order.

Thanks for the response though.

I put my order in the end of April. I don't know how manufacturing works but I guess if they don't fill the order in time you have to start from scratch.

My original dealer said he confirmed with Ford that nav would go into customer ordered vehicles but NOT any ordered for stock. I believe someone else also confirmed this but I of course can't find it right now.

Before I knew that I cancelled my order and bought one from a dealers stock.

I have also seen different answers from different dealers. Who knows, maybe you're in an area of the country that "they" decided must have nav. Good luck.

I ordered my truck in April and still have not received a VIN. My dealer called today to notify me that the nav is not available for my order. I was informed that an aftermarket one could be installed and that it may be cheaper. The cost is not the issue for me. I want the system to have a stock look. I don't want to have something that looks like it was installed later. I will have to contact the dealer to see what my options are and to see how they can accomodate me. Does anyone have any photos of an aftermarket nav install? Nothing has been said regarding the molten orange yet. The only thing that could be positive out of a long wait is that I won't get a truck that clunks.
