Very pleaseed!

I have a 2011 SCrew. This weekend I took my 1976 International Scout out to the farm. The truck towed at the speed limit without much extra effort. I noticed with or without towhaul mode on, I spent most of my cruising time in 5th gear. Tow Haul was wanted when accelerating. Sag in the rear end was minimal, the off-road inclinometer was at 0 on leve ground. I would guess truck and trailer was betwwen six and seven thousand pounds.

Next trips might be with the H3 now that I have seen how well it did with the Scout. No pics... sorry just no time.

SCrew 6.2 Towing Review

Since then I have found that when I have my trailer fully loaded (8000-9000 lbs) I have to use a weight distribution hitch and sway control to do anything above 65mph. I still plan on keeping my F350 for the long hauls but when I need to get around town, the Raptor works just fine =) And for the record, my F350 was in the Ford dealers getting the cooling system replaced due to a cracked radiator that happened under warranty. I was moving my shop and on the last weekend possible for the move..so I had no choice but to use my Raptor.

Hello,
I've had no problems towing with my 11 supercrew so far. I towed a 25' snowmobile trailer weighing around 6000lbs with no distribution hitch. There was about 2" of suspension sag, but it seemed pretty stable. Towing for 240 miles,I averaged 9.7 mpg. I plan on towing my open car trailer with my '56 F100 to a show in Tennessee this spring. It has the wd hitch on it and I'm pretty sure it should tow it just fine.

I know this thread says '11 towing...but throwin it out there my'10 ext cab has pulled just fine. My 10 sec Thunderbird and 18" trailer are prolly near 6k pounds. Now the 24' enclosed...thats a different story. The crew cabs are "rated" at 8k right?

Yup. 8000 w/ SCrew.

I was loaded pretty good ( bed full of gear and 2 ATV's plus a stack of firewood on trailer) and when I hit 72 mph (Speedlimit was 75 of course) All hell broke loose as the trailer started fishtailing wildly. Definitely got my full attention. It was kinda funny that well after the pucker, I get a message on the dash : "Trailer sway detected - reduce speed."

Yep. This is why I went with the weight distribution hitch and anti-sway shit on it. Next week I am towing my 28' enclosed, the Terlingua, fuel, tools..I'll be around 9k in weight. Been fine so far, we'll see how she does on a 3000 mile road trip.

I haven't towed with my Raptor, but have a lot of towing experience with other pickups. Biggest cause of sway I've run into is loading the trailer too heavy to the rear. If the trailer CG is behind the axle(s), sway is likely. My basic rule is to put all of the weight on the tongue that the truck can handle, which usually puts the trailer CG ahead of the axle(s).

had an empty 20' enclosed sled trailer couple weeks ago going across 30-40mph wind and that was hell, averaged 6mpg going 70mph in 4th gear for 200 miles

I am looking/considering purchasing one of these 2012 Trailer Toad 3500 HD.

Hard to justify the cost though.
