Thanks all. I figured there were some Jeep owners in the mix. Likely will be getting a 2-door but she wants to drive both. We have rented plenty of JK's with the 3.8L slug V6 in Hawaii. Liked everything except the power. I have been researching mods and likely will do some shopping with AEV. This won't be a hardcore rock crawler. Just a nicely built driver with some occasional wheeling.

This was my daily beast I had to deal with everyday. Went to Moab, UT annually and did almost everything there with her. Now I have my raptor though and im very very happy. But I do love my off-roading!

Built up this jeep over the last couple years. Planning to add a Raptor in the fall as a DD, hunting/camping truck and to tow the jeep around sometimes!

37"s on a Jeep really makes the Raptor look like it has small tires!

I'm thinking of buying this guy tomorrow. It would be an off-road toy and a backup snow vehicle since my wife's car doesn't go in the snow.

Thoughts?

Here is a cool Fourwheeler featured writeup on a JK-8 pickup conversion that our Anaheim Hills, CA shop completed:

So You Want A Wrangler JK Pickup? - Four Wheeler Magazine

The second part of this writeup was just published in April's issue.

I just sold my 2008 Rubicon a couple weeks ago.
I had a 3.5 inch lift and 35's after market front bumper and winch.
It was okay, but I already like the Raptor more.
Wish I had a new one with the new engine in it to try, I hear its greatly improved.
Mine was under powered, and loud on the highway, otherwise a good unit.

I nixxed the last Jeep I went to look at, but have my eyes on another. That leads me to a question that I hope belongs in here. I'm looking for a tow bar that can mount to the D-ring holes in the front of a rock crawler style bumper. I know I can buy a tow bar and separately buy the proper adapters, but I'm wondering if since I already know what I need maybe there is a product out there that will do this and be cheaper than buying the pieces separately (those little brackets are stupid expensive for what they are). Anyone know of one?

with my bead locks on. They are the biggest PIA to mount.

with my 39 boggers on for playing in the mud.

on the trailer to mudfest.

recently added the snorkel and new flares

The Jeep is a 2004 Rubicon with a full cage through dash tied to the frame. Alloy axles, 4.88 gears, currie anti rock, on board welder, on board air, custom dash modified for Pioneer Avic Nav unit, 8" long arm kit and I run custom made Billet spacers making it 4" wider track with for stability. 5 point harnesses. Custom bumpers, hydraulic assist steering, flat skids with driveline raised 2 inches. IPF headlight conversion, warn winch, much more I'm to tired to remember at the moment. I don't drive it much and it only has 24,000 miles on it since I bought it new almost 8 years ago. I also have a highly modded CJ-7 but I don't have any pictures of it handy at the moment. My first vehicle was a jeep and I promised myself I would always have at least one.

Here is pic of my old 2002 TJ and my Dads TJ some time ago. He still has his as well but we both prefer the Raptors these days. I took the bumper I built for the 02 to put on the Rubicon when I bought it. I loved the 02 TJ but I made the mistake of installing early terra flex 60 axle housings and they were complete junk always chewing bearings so I sold it for the Rubicon and it's been a great Jeep.
