This is the modern Internet era. My last 3 new cars were all purchased online (e.g. cars.com, no Fords, though)... build the features, shows me invoice and MSRP, does the matchmaking with dealers, click buy and the cars were literally delivered to my house (obviously financing added some paperwork, but it was easy enough).

Is it possible to do something like this with a 2018 Raptor? I don't care about speed so if I have to wait 6 months for a build or whatever, that's fine. I care about getting the exact feature set I want (easy to build online), paying a know fair price (something between invoice and MSRP), and not dealing with salespeople that will waste my time - this entire process should take less than 1hr and not require my free time to drive to a dealership.

I see lots of threads about price paid, but I haven't seen anything yet that covers "here's how to buy online"... perhaps because that's not possible?

Thanks all! Signed... a future happy owner (coming from a Nissan Titan that I love... but ITS TIME NOW!!! hehe)

Not that I’m aware. Ford makes you go to the Stealer to run the gauntlet of add ons and potential extras. You can score deals and arrange final purchase at a particular deal online but otherwise no.

That said, I coordinated trade in value, agreed upon purchase and downpayment by sms text with the dealer and made a phone payment, got an email receipt.
All in all, my purchasing dealer was a breeze to work with. So if you do your homework, you should be fine.

Auto sales have to occur through a dealer, the manufacturer cannot sell them direct. Tesla has been fighting that, I think they may have won some exemptions here and there.

Just go find a dealer and and buy one- it's really not that difficult. They are there to sell vehicles. Tell them what you want, and how much you are willing to pay for it. If they won't sell it for what you want to pay, then you can either pay more, wait it out until they drop the prices, or try another dealer. It's no different than other goods that you purchase.

True, but to mince words (which is important to my point here): you're concentrating on which entity I do business with, which is _*absolutely not*_ the same thing as where and how I transact. The "where and how" is the only part I actually care about... I don't think I was as clear as I should have been up front: I'm happy to do business with a dealer and of course I'll drive there for final documents, pickup, or whatever, I just want to do as much as possible online or via email/sms first. I totally understand I'm not going to buy this direct from FoMoCo via a non-geographic website, that's cool by me.

I'm asking here in the community "for science" so the powers that be know there are buyers out there like me waiting for this to be possible ("if you don't speak up, nobody will know"). With that said, I just did the website build-and-contact local dealer thing and I'm waiting for them to reach out so I can start the process however they want me to!

I work for a dealer that sells 10,000 vehicles a year, and we are truck and van only. No cars. That being said, most of those vehicles never see our lot and most of those deals are done via the internet and phone. We are able to do so, by not doing all of the stuff other dealers do (up charge, admin fees, ridiculous aftermarket, etc.) We quote fair prices, handle any logistics the customers want, and don't have a bunch of stupid paperwork...and we have been doing it for over 50 years. It is possible...we do exist.

All that being said, I do have a 2018 Raptor on the ground now ready for delivery. Fully loaded, black, Screw, for MSRP...$71,715. No additional mark up, no admin fee. Fly in and drive home or pay and I will have it shipped to your door. I am located in Kansas City, MO. I would do the same deal on any order unit as well, although right now it would probably take a while. I have 4 more in the order bank as we speak and none of them are scheduled yet....something to think about. If you are interested in the one that I have, PM me for details
