Government Auctions

All,

I work for a small company and we help the Feds auction off seized property. There's a live auction on April 1 in Riverside, CA and there are a few cars being auctioned (Porsche, Mercedes AMGs, ect). And most of these cars have under 100 miles. And yes there's a Silver 2013 Raptor (25,620 miles). Please note I can not reveal the reserves or the Feds will come for my Raptor and I will get fired.

Rough estimates of the reserve?

All I can say is that these auctions are competitive. Don't be shocked if the Porsche and Mercedes sell close to retail. Regardless it's a live auction and it's fun. The quality of cars at this auction are just spectacular and not the norm. And this is why I am sharing.

Do you know of any the stories on why they were seized? Lots of new German auto's with low mileage.... doesn't seem like a drug deal type of seizure...

I asked the same question and this was the response I received from a guy I work with:

"Not sure. There's a pile of secret service vehicles (brand new) BMWs and Land Rovers that were seized in NJ for attempted illegal exporting. Not sure if this is similar or not."

That's my guess. They export them to Russia/etc and sell them for double to triple their value.
