So today I was heading to work, and I put it in sport mode, in Florida on the highway. Around 70 miles an hour I heard a pop and the truck decelerated and a yellow wrench appeared on my dash. Apparently from what I can gather this is called limp mode. I immediately call the Ford dealership and made an appointment to get the truck looked at. A couple hours later after being parked in my garage at work, I started the truck up in the yellow wrench was gone. I took it back out onto the highway, put it in sport mode and hammered on it, and everything was fine. Any thoughts about this scenario? I asked the technician at Ford whether I should bring the truck in, to which he said no, because since the wrench is gone, they cannot pull the code.

Sorry it’s not supposed to say “in Florida on the highway”, it’s supposed to say “ and floored it onto the highway!”

unless they are using a pen and paper, their computer can 100% pull up an old code.
but it for sure makes it harder to diagnose and prove something is wrong.

if it were me personally, since the truck is still likely under warranty. i would bring it in so you have documentation you arent being a negligent owner if something really is wrong and you find it out down the road. not that you are negligent or anything, just saying what warranty ass holes may try to bring up in the future if you do have an issue.

didn’t someone else report similar issue a couple / few months back, traced back to a faulty oil pressure sensor I think ?

definitely a dealer visit.

If it happened once, most likely it'll happen again. Try to recreate it and take the truck straight to ford if possible.

When they dissapear it means something messed up but when you turn off the truck it resets. I would have to bet that it'll do it again.

Those Florida interstates are crazy nice though man, I'm sure the code had nothing to do with the road lol.

So I drove in onto the highway at the same part going uphill and hammered it and nothing happened. I'll try it again tomorrow going to work and if nothing happenes I'll call the dealership and talk to the service manager to see if they can pull the code eventhough the light isn't on. I hate to have someone else driving my truck!!!

So let me ask you all this:

Maybe it’s psychological because the truck went into limp mode, but when I use the truck in sport mode, I don’t think that it accelerates as fast as it did before. Thoughts?

Most likely phycological, though you could be right and I mean you might be running bad fuel or something idk!

It’s strange that you just mentioned that. I just filled up at Mobil and got the high octane gas. I’ve pretty much stuck with Sunoco since I bought the truck. That very well may be it.
