Hey FRF is it possible to disconnect the trans temp gauge on a gen 1 to avoid limp mode? Gauge is totally wrong and I need to avoid limp mode.

Crawl under the truck and pull the plug on the sensor?
Just a guess.
Unfortunately the sensor is inside the trans. Ended up smoking the trans and now it will need replaced. FYI my understanding is that there is no way to do this. If the ECW cannot obtain a reading it will automatically go into limp mode.

Well of course the sensor is inside the transmission. But it has to have electrical contacts on the outside, and electrical contacts for the wiring harness plug.

Now, if the computer reacts badly when it's simply unplugged, you might consider seeing what happens if you rig a jumper between the contacts.
