Poor design by Ford. Mines died three times. Now that it's out of warranty, I have 17 pounds of silicone caulk to prevent water from getting in again. Those 3rd brake light assemblies are expensive when you have to buy them yourself.

Yep, probably cost ford $5 for the whole assembly, and why fix it when they can sell a couple thousand of them to us saps every year when the warranty runs out.

They wouldn't replace mine under warranty with a 5yr/100k warranty. Even made me buy it and install it myself. How are you guys getting yours replaced under warranty? 2011 Supercrew

This is BS.. I was planning on taking my 11 in...

I found this in the warranty info..

Components and Repairs
Not Covered by PremiumCARE

Buttons, carpet, clamps, dash pad, door and window handles, knobs, trim, upholstery, CNG/LPG components, tires, WATER LEAKS, wind noise, weatherstrips, fabric, liners, zippers and fasteners..

Wonder if the FORD rep can get us hooked up because an updated part has been made because FORD had a poor initial design..

They sold me a "led" warranty on top of the extended, according to the guy the LEDs are not covered from moisture. By this point I was tired of arguing and late to picking my kids up so I just said "whatever get me out of here" lol. I hate that part of buying cars..

Being in the automotive industry since I was 16, even trying to get in and out, they always want to tell me about their "bumper-to-bumper" warranty that I've dealt with, that ISN'T bumper-to-bumper. I've stopped trying to tell them that they're making it difficult for the service department to do their job, as people always bitch about being told bumper-to-bumper.

Anyway... go 3rd brake light. Checked mine today, it appears to be pretty sealed up, almost appears to have pipe thread in certain areas and a big beefy gasket. Wonder if the previous owner did something or it came that way.
