Default Sight grinding from front right tire
My truck started making a slight grinding noise from the front right tire. Sounds like it could be the hub maybe? Anyone know or have experience with this?

Hmm that's odd. Have you taken te tire off to check your brake pads and rotors. It could be the hub bearings it's easy to pull the hub off and look and since it'll be off you could replace the bearings lol

Well the bearings I think are pressed in so that might be the hardest part of it all. Everything else is easy to take off

I destroyed a wheel bearing and it made more sense to replace the hub

Trying replace just the bearings is nearly impossible because the ford hubs are a sealed one piece design. The hub assemblies are fairly easy to replace. Pull the tire, brake caliper, brake rotor off. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the hub housing held in with a allen head bolt. Remove the cover and stub shaft nut that holds the cv axle in the hub. You'll probably have to tap on the cv snub with a hammer to free it so it will slide out when you remove the hub. Remove the four hub bolts from the back of the knuckle and it should pop free with a hammer and some penetrating lube if needed. It helps to remove the outer tie rod end so that you can swing the suspensions forward and back to get to all the bolts.

Generally a hub bearing is easy to diagnos by loading the suspect side of the vehicle up and listening to see if the noise gets worse. So, if its right side bearing, make a some what long hard left turn to load the right side and see if the noise gets worse. If so 99% time it's a wheel bearing/hub.

Yea and hubs depending on what you get range from $70-180 and the mastercraft hubs are about $260 a hub. They do sell bearings but like pirate said its hard to replace. A new bearing goes for about $40-60

The truck goes to ford today. ESP is covering the fix. Dealer says it's not a bearing because that would be a constant roar, I have a more pulsing grind. Think of a cricket. It's expected to be something in the 4wd
