I have 150 miles on the truck and the service engine light is on. I don't have time to take it in till Friday and the engine seems to be operating fine. Any ideas what it could be? With the poorly aligned body panels and rust showing up everywhere on the underside, makes me wonder if buying a Ford was a good decision. I just want to be happy about my purchase. Jeez, was mine inspected on a Friday? Damn UAW.

Sorry, I'm just bitching. At least I don't have the clunk...........yet.

Do you think undercoating the rear fender wells and underside of the bed is worth it? I live in western Washington.

The first "American" car I've purchased and it's giving me stress.

I'm hoping the guy was joking. Poor panel alignment to what standards? What is "rusting" already? It's probably just on the surface, like ANY non-treated/painted or coated bare steel will do; not just "American Steel".

I don't like this thread already with the American Bashing. My father worked for Ford for over 30 years and was and still IS a member of the UAW. Until his medical retirement, I never knew the man because he was ALWAYS at work, Fridays, Weekends, 12-16-18 hours a day. He would sleep in the parking lot in his car and go right back to work.

Screw your comment on "Inspected on a Friday..." It should have been this instead: "Damn, I should have looked over the ******* truck better before dropping $50,000 on it."

That, sir, is YOUR fault.

I Love America despite the fact we allow Swoop to live here.

What's wrong with you? I am part of a union and I'm not American bashing or American steel bashing. As I mentioned I was just bitching about my experience so far with my raptor. You're more pissy than my psycho ex with PMDD - look it up, I may have just diagnosed you at no charge and you're welcome. They have medication that might help you.

Our family has owned many American vehicles and they have all had many issues and thus the change to more reliable car manufacturers. If I didn't think Ford could make a good car now I wouldn't have bought this truck...even though this "American" truck has parts built in Mexico maybe other countries as well.

I used to roll in a buick century and a chevy astro van so unless your father was working for buick in the 80's or chevy in the 90's, he's never worked on a car that I own or drive so no offense to him.

I'm sorry you have abandonment and/or father issues. Maybe he didn't enjoy being around you or your family...might be the reason he slept in the car and tried to lose himself in his work. What do I know? Sorry he didn't love you enough, but I believe this forum focuses more on rants/raves and other things pertaining to the Ford Raptor and not issues you're needing to work out in therapy. There is no denying that the Raptor is an awesome truck by the way, excluding the manufacturing issues which affect ALL manufacturers to some extent. But especially frustrating as it's the only Ford I've had personal experience with.

As mentioned in the original post I WANT to be HAPPY with FORD, but even our shitbox GM cars never had engine service lights come on until I burned through a few tanks of fuel at least. I'm still running on the gas the dealer filled it with.

In regards to you telling me that I should have inspected the truck better; you're right, it is my fault. I should have bought an OBD scanner for a new car purchase and checked for codes that were non existent at the time. I should have been able to predict the service light coming on, blah, blah, blah. In regards to the body panel, I pointed it out to the dealer at delivery and they told me they would get something lined up for me when I came in to get my plates and take care of it then. The flare panel on the driver side hangs over the edge of the bumper and the passenger side panel lines up inside the bumper edge, with a gap large enough to fit my finger between the grill and the headlight housing. If you were interested. I originally though it was the hood.

So with that said, all I was trying to do was see if anybody knew something quick and easy to check that might be the source of the service engine light so I wouldn't have to take it in. I'm hoping it's just a loose connector. Otherwise I guess I'll keep my bitching to myself as people here are waaaaaayyy to sensitive. Maybe the Z is better as swoop was banned and isn't there anymore.

Oh before I forget, swoop, how's your truck doing with the clunk? Seems like your rear end has some issues. Would that be something that is Ford's fault or yours? Why is it that everything that is wrong with MY truck is my fault and not Ford's. Just curious as you did post that you had issues at the Z. If you need remind yourself what you said: "raptor*forum*z.com/showthread.php?t=10846" copy, paste and remove the *'s.

Sorry for my rant but swoop is being an ass....but I guess that was my fault for posting. Whatever.

Sorry for whatever errors I have here...I wrote so much I don't even want to review and edit it. Cheers.

Did someone say Chevy Astro Van?!?! **** do I ever hate working on those things.

Nothing comes to mind on the check engine light. If it's not flashing and things seem to be running fine, then I wouldn't sweat driving it a few days before you can get it looked at. Like you said, its probably a loose connector that didn't get seated all the way.

You can also link other sites here, don't need the * for it to pass. No one will ban you for it.

The Z being better than this place is crazy talk.

Hey vcxzbnm, I think it was the UAW smack talk that set swoop off. Kind of a sensitive topic to some. Hey, I looked up PMDD. I think my wife has that too.

Get that truck into the dealer and get these couple issues fixed and then start to enjoy a long worry-free relationship with a well-built vehicle.

=============
PLEASE GIVE YOUR Dealer a chance to check it out, and make it right!! BCM's and PCM's have been documented to have been a supplier issue, and could be your service light trigger?? Body panels are an easy adjust and fix. The under carriage rust is VERY COMMON on untreated steel, and with ALL the Salt that is being laid down on parking lots, at the loading areas, it's no surprise that you are seeing some "surface" rust?? I have picked up several trucks from the train yard, and it would make you SICK to see how these trucks look when they are unloaded. Are you seeing ANY rust on body panels?
If you get it undercoated, please please pressure wash the under side of your truck, and let it dry a couple of days, before you go to have it sprayed.

Hahaha. That was awesome. I didn't even read your whole reply. Thanks for wasting your time on me!

Step one in taking over the world; complete.

Oh, about my clunk in the rear? I don't care. I have a 7 year/100,000 mile warranty. Hell, I hope the whole damn truck disintegrates itself in that period of time. I'll get a new truck piece by piece. If not, I'll sell it and get another one. Since I've gone to two dealers, read the TSB and thought about it a bit -- I haven't worried about it since. I drive my truck, I love it and it loves me.

I wasn't banned on the Z... I left. After I left, they banned me. Big deal. It all happened for I was pointing out how ****** the site was run. Once people start speaking up and thinking for themselves, it all goes to hell in a hand-basket. People in this society cannot fathom the thought of life without someone telling them what to do. Media. Advertisements. Money. **** all that. I want my own thoughts and I defend our right to express them. The moment I am censored, I'll leave; in which I already covered above.

If I was being a **** in my post to you, then that's how you took it. If you want all 100% seriousness all the time, go someplace else. If you want to have some fun and enter in some heated debate, then that's what you're going to get.

My father was and is still a great man. There is no abandonment issues. Maybe it's touchy for you and that's why you brought that us, as I posted nothing to make you think that was ever the case. I simply stated that he worked long, hard hours for the UAW and for Ford Motor Company. Perhaps you're the one that needs help.

Aside from all that, enjoy the truck. I sure as hell do!
