I try to operate most everything through the steering wheel controls. About a week ago I noticed the controls were not doing what they should. For example, I would press the increase volume button and the radio channel would change, I try to move forward a track on a cd and the media changes to radio. WTF.

I did not realize how much i relied on the steering wheel controls,

There is no pattern and it does screws up at random intervals.

Any thoughts or ideas?

it is a 11 with out the Fancy Nav.

I had a simaliar issue a month ago with the phone button not operating, so they thought it was the button, but they just needed to reprogram it and started working correctly. I'm like you, I rely on those steering buttons without even thinking about them, but when they quit working it drove me crazy.

So did you let the dealer do the reprogram? or is this something we could do ourselves?

I have a 5 Star Tune, You think the dealer would disturb that part of the ECU?

I have reservations about the dealers working on my truck.

Thanks for the feedback

unfortunately this is a problem that has to be corrected by the dealer. if it s a programming issue then they will need to connect to it, however i have rarely heard of a programming problem. usually its a problem with the steering wheel buttons themselves or a problem with the radio. you could try to pull you radio first and disconnect all the connections and wait 5 minutes before reconnecting. maybe it just needs a hard reset.

Because it is running with Microsoft OS. Just kidding.

One of my co-worker even made a joke with me.

In my case, they just reprogrammed the radio, which has nothing to do with the ECU. I would do as Nosbusa stated do a hard reboot 1st. Hopefully that will resolve the issue. If not, it's time to take it to the stealership.

i have already been to the ford dealership, so when ordering becomes available for my 2013 i verified that i can get the truck with both cameras but no screen, or audio system. that is the first thing i do everytime i get a new car is to strip the audio, so i dont have to deal with the oem crap and put in my own a/v system. being an installer, it definately as its perks. let me know if i can help more

I have been at the dealer for over two hours. Got it reprogrammed and it works but the iPod is showing connected but not accessible on the radio. The tech has been causing Microsoft up and down. He is rebooting the system again.

The tv channels suck ass in the dealer lounge. They have a 50" plasma with some Rickie Lake shit. :flipthebird:
