If you have any VCT or Ti-VCT the tick you hear is one of the cam phasers. Ford has several TSBs across several models of vehicles about this problem.

If you have an Ecoboost engine the noise you is from your fuel injectors. Because of the extremely high fuel pressure that the injectors fire at it sounds like a tick but its normal. Also all Ecoboost engines are Ti-VCT.

IN EITHER CASE BRING YOUR VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. DO NOT ASSUME THE NOISE IS NORMAL UNTIL THE DEALER SHOWS YOU SOMETHING FROM FORD SAYING IT IS. FORD DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT PROBLEMS ESPECIALLY NOISE ISSUES UNTIL THEY START SEEING A PATTERN AT THE DEALER.

Can a mod sticky this.

Guess every Raptor owner with the 6.2 needs to take there truck to the dealer then, because it seems we all have heard the ticking noise at some point or another with the 6.2 at start up ? :Grenade:

Hence why there is a TSB on 6.2s. For whatever reason Fords cam phasers are hit or miss if they tick. There is no different part from what you get from the factory.

Will it hurt anything if it keeps ticking? and do you happen to have the TSB number tank?

The TSB has been posted several times. You'll just have to search it.
Honestly Idk what will happen if its ignored. The tick is caused by an oil flow issue and oil flow is how the cam phasers work. So could the phaser fail maybe its possible.

Damn lazy Ford techs. They told me it's just injector ticking. And wouldn't bother to check it out. Maybe ill go back to the Ford dealership I bought it from and let them check it out.

Seeing a partner at the dealer?

If you're going to TYPE OMGWTFBBQ!! IN ALL CAPS AND ASK A MOD TO STICKY this information for others, perhaps you should correct your grammar, spelling and punctuation mistakes. Remember, we know people and people are stupid.

Interesting---I have a 2011 and it is as quiet as a mouse. Been listening and nothing--wonder if the type of oil being used has anything to do with it?

It also would be interesting to see if it is temperature related?
Only on cold mornings? Only starting a hot engine?
