FRF,
I'm having some issues with my 4-wheel drive system. When I'm in 2WD, I have no grinding/rubbing noises at all. When I engage 4WD Hi, I get a pretty noticable mechanical rubbing/friction/grinding type noise. I have searched these types of noises but it seems a lot of people have this issue while in 2WD and having issues with their IWEs. I don't think this is the same issue.
When I accelerate the noise gets louder but it also gets louder when coasting. The sound goes away when I switch back into 2WD and apply throttle. I took the truck into the Ford dealership today in order to show them the problem. I drove around the service technician and showed them the sounds and after hearing the sounds they agreed that there was an issue.
Later in the day I got a call from the service tech saying that there isnt issues with hearing that sound while in 4WD Hi and that its a normal sound.
I have driven other 4WD equipped trucks, including a 2012 FX4 and have never experienced this while in 4WD-Hi. Nothing of the sort at all. Is this a normal thing? Should I call the dealership out on BS? Any for regional service managers that I could contact in case the dealership tries not to fix an issue?
The truck is a 2012 SCREW with 50k on it. Thanks for the help in advance.
