So just picked up my brand new raptor last night and drove 200 miles today. Now this is my first truck in about 13 years. I noticed some shake or vibration on very smooth roads. It's not bad. I know trucks ride different than SUVs but Im trying to judge if this is just my truck or if this is normal for all trucks.

It happens at all speeds and just barely shakes my left mirror. Tire pressure is 39 psi all around and the alignment is perfect. Any thoughts?

As above ^^. , also check that all lug nuts are tight and that there isn't anything stuck in the tire. If you are at highway speed and let off the gas pedal completely does the vibration stop?

There have been a bunch of ’17 Raps with either terribly balanced tire/wheel or out of spec tires. I’d have it right back to the dealer, it won’t fix itself.

When I took my 2014 to my neighborhood Discount Tire for a tire rotation they checked and re-balanced the tires. I could not believe how unbalanced they were leaving the factory. I did not notice any unbalance but I sure noticed how much smoother it rode after the re-balance.

Have to agree with the balance as well. Mine is extremely smooth at all speeds particularly for a larger tire. I did have an issue a couple of years ago with another vehicle where it drove super smooth for several hundred miles and then started picking up a vibration at certain speeds and slowly began to get worse.

Long story short, after a couple of sets of tires, a Ford engineer that visited the dealership in response to my problem confirmed my suspicions and determined it was a structural issue with the tire construction which is why each set exhibited the same symptoms over the same period of time (probably from the same lot).

These were NOT BFG tires by the way but another OEM brand.

I am not sure if your dealer's balancer can use the road force generator feature on this size tire but I would ask. It has made a world of difference in my experiences.

Agreed. Start simple. 1) Road force balance the tires & rotate em ( see if vibration moves - remember the equipment is only as good as the person operating it 2) check alignment (again) 3) have dealer inspect wheels & tires (could be a bad wheel or bad tire) 4) check drive shaft

Went to a shop nearby that had a RF machine. Each tire was .25 to .5 oz off except 1. That 1 was 1.5 oz off.

Did a test drive today on a known good smooth road. Its better but i still feel a small vibration in the seat.

At this point i almost think im expecting it to be caddy smooth and its mostly in my head. They are big semi aggressive truck tires and its not going to ride like a suv.

Anyone live near arlington va that wants to let me drive their truck to compare? =]
