Ok guys I need some help, I consider myself more then average on the mechanical side of things but this one has me stumped.
This is the situation;
Offroading in 4-HI and really working the steering wheel from left to right going down high speed trails or doin donuts. After the fun is done I have a chatter in the steering wheel that feels like its coming from the steering column. You cannot hear it outside the truck when I stick my head out the windows but every little bump you can literally feel in the steering wheel. When you turn off the A/C and radio you can hear the steering wheel chattering in accordinance with the knocking you feel. This knock is in 4-HI and 2-HI at this point.
This has happened 2 times to me so far. now here is where it gets interesting.
Once the engine sits and everything cools off and I take it to go home it seems like everything tightens back up and I don't feel it again.
So what would get hot enough to cause a chatter/knock in the steering column on even the smallest of bumps?
