MIne ended up being the high pressure hose on the power steering pump having a leak at the connection point. Hopefully it is fixed for good now. The dealer did an interior detailing for me to ease the sting of brining it in for the 2nd time in 5 days. That should work assuming I'm not in there again by the beginning of next week for the same thing.

Reading threads like this are really making me question my decision to get rid of my Tacoma. I can live with a growling front axle shaft bearing, and the odd throwout bearing noises if it is only going to cost me $27,000.
For $50,000, the truck had better be flawless. No leaks, squeaks, clunks, or any of the other things that would indicate a poorly designed and poorly built truck.

I already have that.

Nothing is perfect and every vehicle, regardless of cost, has its issues.

Yep, setting yourself up for failure. Hopefully no leaky pumps or hoses, but I had a couple things that needed 'tightening up' too. (door seal near the bottom of the driver's side door and a couple small things like that).

Sill, worth every penny I paid for it.

Good luck and enjoy your truck!

Yes, I am fully aware of that. I am not bad mouthing the Raptor at all. It is a badass truck, and hope to get mine ordered within the next week or two. My concerns were directed at the trend I have noticed here lately on brand new Raptors. Leaks, noises, ect. Hopefully QC isn't slipping in Dearborn.

Sorry to hear of so many people having issues with there vehicles periods starting premature. Just means you wont have another raptor running around nine months later. If the high side hose was leaking it may have been a supplier issue. Everything will have a flaw from time to time I wouldnt let something small get to ya. I see a lot of people getting worked up on small details then thinking the new vehicle they bought is unreliable. Someone that goes through six injectors in one month should be mad or someone replaces your engine and loses all the oil on your first drive with it. I am glad when I hear of dealerships helping someone out and making things right over all the negativity towards them.

my vehicle is fixed now, happy man right here. After the initial bad instance with my local dealer, they realized that should not try to just do a cheap fix, and actually make sure my vehicle is in good working order before giving it back to me. So i am a happy man right now!
plan on going to gorman (4x4 park in so cal) again in a few weeks to test her out!

to Jdowens1: dont think that was intended to me, but I Hope i didnt come by as doubting the reliability the truck, just a little bit frustrated since i wanted to continue driving it so badly! and was mainly just angered by my dealer for not doing their job properly initially. And I agree that it was probably just a supplier issue since several of the raptors are having issues with these hoses.

When it comes to ANY DEALER weather its with cars, bikes or even boats, the dealer is only as good as its people. I HATE depending on others to fix my broken rides. Warranty is there for a reason, mechanical shit breaks, can be defective and fail after install unknown to the manufacturer. Use that warranty but remember, the dealer is only as good as its people.

Also, make sure you build a good relationship with the service advisor at the dealer you use. They can be INSTRUMENTAL in how the work is done in the end and dealing with any issues that may arise. If you feel the need, introduce yourself to thye service manager just to be familure with who runs the shop. If you don't feel warm and fuzzy there, take it some place else.

I had a 94 Ranger 4 x 4. It was agreat truck but had a few issues here and there. I found a great service manager and he became a great tool over the years. He had a few mechanics that he would let work on my stuff. He moved to another dealership and I followed over the years. I had him work on 3 trucks over the years till he retires. Now I am in the same boat as you. So it starts all over again in a few weeks when I take my list of 3 or 4 fixes I need done in. We will see.

Well you can officially add my 2011 to the list. Started yesterday after I stopped at a store I remote started it and could clearly hear the power steering pump making all sorts of noise. Will update more info after the dealerships fixes it.

I replaced the p/s cooler on a 2012 raptor. The cooler is part of the a/c condendsor. Ford was on top of this. An engineer called me the next day wondering what I found. They have seen a few hair line cracks where the p/s hose connects to the cooler. We had the part in stock and had our customer on the road the same morning. Good luck.
