Kaiser sent me a PM that prompted this response. We are in agreement that something needed to be said. We are all sick and tired of members spamming the forum with useless crap so they can post in the Garage Sale section. I am also sick of people sending me PMs asking why they have to make 50 posts and "such and such a forum doesn't do that". Guess what? I DO NOT G A F what other forums do.

Just so everyone knows, the minimum post requirement is in place for 2 reasons.

1. It requires that members contribute something useful to the forum, not just come here to sell their items (for free) and disappear. A forum is a community that thrives on user generated content. This isn't Craigslist. Nothing is "FREE" in this world, you want to sell something on the forum we have all worked so hard to build? Contribute to it somehow.

2. Most importantly, the minimum post requirement lessens the chance of members being scammed or ripped off. If someone was allowed to join today and immediately sell something, that's just too easy.

If a member is required to stick around for 5 days and make 50 posts, that will deter most anyone who wants to run in here and scam someone. It would be much easier to just go to Craigslist and scam someone today. If you want to rip someone off, go right ahead but you won't do it on FRF. Also remember I have access to your IP address and email address. A simple call to the local police, your ISP and/or email provider and we will have someone at your front door in 48 hours.

The Supporting Member option isn't there because we want to force you to pay to sell something. But rather, when you become a Supporting Member we receive your personal information from PayPal which eliminates the risk of members being scammed. Sure, you could still get scammed but the person won't get away with it because we have their name and address!

Also, if you're ripped off by a Supporting Member, we will forfeit whatever the "scammer" paid to the forum and give it to whoever got ripped off.

So before you bitch and complain about having to make 50 posts, realize the reasons behind it. Making 50 useless posts in order to work the system is extremely disrespectful and an abuse of the forum.

Hey Birdman rob here from TW. I just had some info I left for you and the other mods. The mods on FJ cruiser, toy 4 runner, and Expedition portal allowed me to post the info I left in the new members thread. If you could take a look and let me know if your team is okay with it I'd like to extend the invite to everyone who participates on this forum. The Rtt market is really taking off and I and Treeline are putting together a very rare gb. If you have any concerns or if you do not want this to happen please let me know and I'll still be a member as raptors are pretty much a beast off the lot and I'm curious as to how everyone is outfitting their rigs!

Best

Rob

I've been a member for a long time now, and definitely do more reading than posting. I was a little surprised to find the 50 post requirement when attempting to list my truck for sale, but I completely agree with the process if the desired result is quality buying/selling experiences for everyone.

There's a special place in hell for people who abuse forums to scam other enthusiasts, I can only hope that other forums I belong to adapt a similar system.

And a big thanks to all the random online buyers and sellers I've encountered over the years. There's still some honest people out there.

While I agree it’s definitly a nuisance. I have been on the forum for about a month now since I purchased my Shelby Baja and have an item I would like to sell (already). :/

Can someone give me some help on becoming a supporting member? I've been on here for a week or so and have found it very hard to contribute meaningful posts when I know nothing about a Raptor and I don't want to spam threads for the sake of getting 50 posts. I'm at the point where I'm willing to spend the $30 or whatever it is to be a supporting member, but when I click the link it only offers me some $125 advertiser thing and not a supporting member option. Any input from anyone? I'd like to offer my beadlocks for sale here, but right now can't. Thanks.
