It's weird. Hard to believe Ford would leave so many holes on the frame unfilled?



In large-scale manufacturing, pennies add up to millions. Those holes are used in the fabrication process and/or assembly, and it would cost extra to plug them back up. Plus, every part could have a significant initial cost for engineering and quality/safety testing.

Frankly, most won't care, and they cater to the majority when deciding cost reduction.

I'd gladly pay hundreds or thousands more for extras like cosmetic improvements or added rust prevention, but most won't. They leave it to the aftermarket for folks like us.
