Carbon fiber hood insert, side vents and flares?! Seems pricey to me

This is a discussion on Carbon fiber hood insert, side vents and flares?! Seems pricey to me within the Ford Raptor Exterior Forum [GEN 2] forums, part of the GEN 2 (2017+) Ford F-150 Raptor Forums category!
Agree vents look good. Flares look wack. Should #askJake...

Before we call $800 for a carbon fiber hood vent, let us keep in mind the OEM Hood Graphic is 1,000 friggin dollars!

Iíve read on the internet < so it --must-- be true > that constant exposure to UV can result in some carbon fiber yellowing and degrading of he epoxy / resin. Usually a UV protecting coating is applied and Iím not sure how effective this is at resisting this alleged degradation.

BST has this to say : http://blackstonetek.com/wp-content/...2016/08/uv.pdf

So it appears maybe thereís something to it for uncoated or unprotected CF. Anyway, as long as itís at least clear coated with a good UV protectant, they should be GTG

That is a lot of money for pretty, you could buy a lot of LED lights or bumper and lights for that amount of cash.
