Initial Shock/Truck/Parts Reviews

Current setup is

Fox 3.0’s
Deaver +3’s
Rogue Bump stops set at 140psi
Rogue Uca’s
Rogue Tie Rods (full lock contact shock body)
Icon Wheels
37” BFG Ko2’s
ADD intercooler relocation (blowoff valve location poor)
RPG frame cut bumper (took some modification to make it work and fit correct)

Initial setup to make the ko2 fit was trimming to rear of front two fender liners. Tire under full compression are hitting the very top of fender liners… Any ideas how I could prevent this without removing liners etc? pics below I do not want to run glass fenders because IMO the ones I have seen fit rough and I am not a fan of running offset wheels to make it look correct.

I will be honest the fox shocks out of the box are not anywhere close to setup. They have no instructions on initial settings. My first day at the dunes was frustrating not knowing what i was really doing trying to gather info and adjust to my knowledge. On day two I reached out to Rick from Freedom and he sent me the icon Link which helped me figure out the basics. They still have a long way to go but much better than day 1. I can’t believe that shocks that retail for $6k comes with such shit instructions and no testing to get initial settings for beginners by FOX. My hat goes off to Icon what a nice write up and chart to get people on the right track for offloading and not being totally lost. Also after that one trip it looks like we have contact with emergency brake cable and also a resi leak. again $6k shocks come on Fox.

Jumping the Truck vs stock was amazing in comparison smooth so smooth on landing. We did not get to crazy started at 30mph and worked our way up to 50mph. whoops were big truck was rough around the edges we managed to smooth them out a bit but definately need more tuning. Highway manors the shocks are great.

Overall we put 1200 miles on over the last 10 days cruised highway speeds at 80-85mph losing hand calculated 1mpg with the 37’s 15.2 mpg overall. I am pleased with most of the mods so far. fit an finish was rough on some of the parts and needed to be fixed. The blowoff valve location is not ideal and really has no protection from the elements. It is loud yeah I’m still trying to figure out if has hurt performance or affected lag by via instead of recirculating? I feel the weight of 37’s has affected power a bit but it does look amazing.

We only have a couple action pics of truck nothing crazy our first jump at 40mph. Some guys at the dunes were taking videos so we didn’t worry about getting any because they were gonna send them to me… Our second day got cut short because a guy flipped his X3 3 times and we stopped to help them until medics arrived which took a laid time and we laid him in the back of my truck.

Where's the fox mobile tuning van when you need one, lol..

These shocks are gonna take some tuning so hang in there, maybe getting the rear shocks dialed in and increasing front pre load (raise them up) will reduce the fender rub to a more acceptable level.

After all, you aren't dune-hooning every day, and you don't need much clearance as the rub appeared to be gentle (considering you were aired out like the dukes of hazard into the bump zone).

Also, i couldn't see the rest of the jump but your angle during touchdown looked fairly extreme (so maybe more speed or a less steep decline would have leveled you out, lol).

Are the tie rods hitting the shock body because they are so much thicker, the shock body is thicker or both?

Stock shocks were close. Aftermarket Rods are big. Not a huge deal because everything travels together but full lock the do run by a hair

great write up!!! depending on ur caster numbers you might be able to take a little caster out to gain a little clearance for the larger tie rods. Thats a maybe though.

Add caster to help clear tires and turn down thick tie roads .25" on the lathe. How much caster you have? You could also change those internal alignment centering plates to push lca forward...have heim joints up top?
