The GEN 1 Raptors came standard with a 4.10 Front Torsion Diff, but it is an option on the GEN 2.

Is this to lower the cost of the truck and force you to buy the option?
(Like floor mats)

-OR- Is the option made less critical (Unnecessary?) by other advancements in the drive train?

I thought it might be fun to hear some speculation. Is there any evidence based in facts?

Pretty sure they want it to be an option, since it isn't always desired by folks based on their intended build.

Wasn't available in 2010-2011. Depending on the conditions say icy, it's good to have a dragger. If all 4 are spinning on an icy surface you have no directional control.

Best of what I gathered from here and friends who ran top perch or equiv+ height with 3.0s on early 10-11 trucks, was that the non torsen trucks were more forgiving of the angles on cv's etc...

Pretty hard on stuff... I would've opted out of it, if I knew what I know now. Unless they planned on upgrading the rest of the 4x4 components.
What do you mean pretty hard on stuff? And what do you know now? Is the ride harsher with a front diff?

I'm really torn on whether to include TORSEN or not in my order. Anyone here been experiencing any issues with Torsen on their Gen 2's yet? Really thinking about leaving this option out so I won't run into paying lots of extra cash related to IWE issues and such. People talk so much smack about the 12-14 models and how the 10-11 models never had a 4x4 problem, I am starting to think the blessing with the Gen 2 is that NOT having torsen is an option... not the other way around. Can I get some opinions guys?? Gotta call the dealership tomorrow and let them know whether I'm in or out on the torsen.
