First...

Nothing is for free. They’re making that much money off of their kit.

Second... they have Ford’s proprietary hardware and software tuning suite. They don’t have to reengineer or hack anything and thus their turn around time from ‘17 to ‘18 is nil.

Third and lastly... they have to conform to all state and federal regulations as part of their deal with Ford. If you think for a second that it will be able to match the power gains from a custom tuner, you are with delusion.

MPT charges $100.00 per tune. The NGauge device which you can buy anywhere costs 399.99. It’s not just a rinky **** tuner. It’s a hardware suite of GAUGES and a wrench code reader and eraser.

For a hundred bucks... because you only need one 93PRX tune.... after all.... whipple only gives you one.... the power and transmission gains are incredible.

So let’s see... even with your little group buy.... 1400 for an intercooler and tune.... buy their intercooler for 899 plus 700 for 3 tunes and an NGAUGE device. Is 200 bucks more for 3 tunes vs 1 with the gauge. The CAI does absolutely NOTHING for performance. If you think it does... it just shows you know less than you think.

So tell me... where is the sweet deal from Whipple???

In the time that it has taken MPT to finalize the 2018 tune, Whipple was able to get a tuning device to work on 2018s and threw it in essentially for free with their stage 1 kit.

Yep exactly - and their tune was made on the dyno with their intake and new intercooler installed so you know it's optimized for those mode too.

Ok.

It’s not an intake. It’s a modified air filter with tubing to support it. 50 different brands all make them and they all do relatively the same thing — which is make a whoosh sound when you hit The gas.

I have one by AFE. It’s a great whoosh.

The intercooler requires no special tune. I have one of those too.

Whipple is selling you a tune and a high quality intercooler with more capacity than stock. Their intercooler is, in my opinion, one of the best. It’s a direct fit and has more than enough capacity for most mods. You don’t, however, need it for normal driving in normal weather unless you plan to beat your truck off road.

Their tune is perfectly ok. It is, by their own admission, mild, and adheres to a 0 knock retard strategy with emissions compliance.

It is what it is. It’ll work fine.

How much would you say you spent on the Intake, Intercooler, nGauge, and MPT tune in total? Honestly ?

500 bucks for the intake.
300 bucks for the tunes from MPT. I had the NGauge.
900 bucks for the intercooler.

I don’t think Whipple is a bad deal. It’s a good bundled deal. You just have to understand what you’re getting. Their tune is on par with your typical custom street/tow tune. For a novice or someone who isn’t looking to extract every ounce of power from their stock turbos... it’s great. It’s safe.

I’ll be honest too... it’s a Raptor. I know I paid a lot for it with dealer markup, taxes, tags. It’s not my daily driver. It’s mostly a toy. A couple of grand either way doesn’t matter. I’m waiting for a big turbo setup that can throw down 600RWHP reliably. If someone can get there and I start seeing folks running it...... thats where my next big purchase will go.
