You seem to have no idea how these trucks work.

Wow, looks like we have a know-it-all on the boards. I guess when I have a problem with my truck, I'll be sure to reach out to you. I've been working in the automotive industry (mainly performance) for many years so yes, I do have an idea as to how an engine works so maybe you shouldn't be so quick to judge people right off the back.

Although the 3.5 Ecoboost was in a Mustang, I have personally witnessed gains found after having the car tuned after having an intake installed. Was it 50hp? No but it was noticeable and the customer was happy.

Pull the silencers out of the stock intake and tune back to back with an aftermarket exhaust and get back to me. The mustang intake and turbos are very diffrent.

I spoke with the tuners at MPT and they confirmed that CAI for our trucks are mostly for looks and increased under-hood sound with very little HP gains. They have tested several different CAIs on their dyno with and without tunes, and concluded they do not provide enough gains for the money.

I was considering the S&B intake for $300, but they recommended I spend my money elsewhere, so I ordered the SPD Turbo Adapters for less money and a proven 15-20 HP.

One will get you zero and the other none... you pick. The both will however get you CELs when they leak.

Yes, I forgot about that! MPT also mentioned CELs for leaking CAIs and most high-flow catted downpipes. I prefer a reliable tune without clearing CELs all the time, so I decided against both options.

Serious question. HP aside, what about dirt filtration when offroading? It's inevitable you're going to suck in a ton of dirt. I have a hard time believing the stock paper filter will be up to the challenge. Aftermarket drop-in filters any better?

It was up to the challenge of the Baja 1000 with a stock filter.

A CAI only change will be about the same horse power gain as the sticker they include in the box.

I personally have no idea. I have discussed this with a couple of engineers that I know that work for a major aircraft company and they both agree that your not gaining anything for what you're paying. Both, at separate conversation agreed it's pretty much useless on this engine without other tuning done.
